Rossana Berardi: It is a privilege to collaborate with Mario Scartozzi and Chiara Alzati in advancing oncology
Rossana Berardi, Director of “Prof. R. Cellerino” High Specialization Center of Genetical Oncology at Marche Polytechnic University, shared a post Mario Scartozzi, Head, Department of Medical Specialties at University Hospital of Cagliari, adding:
“Always serious, never serious.
Especially with those who, like Mario Scartozzi, we shared the first sogni professionali still confused and then years later we ritrovati… more mature, more aware, but with the same entusiasmo as then.
There are legami that are born at university and resist tempo, different scelte, parallel strade.
And today working together with inclusive comunicazione in oncologia also with valuable professionals like Chiara Alzati is not just a project, it is a piece of our storia that continues. It is putting the relazione at the center, the parole that curano… It is to rediscover every time that deep friendship that knows how to ridere, discutere, sognare, costruire.
And the best is yet to come.”
Mario Scartozzi shared a post by Chiara Alzati, Founder of Chiara Alzati Srl, adding:
“We should all have a partner in crime. I even have two. And when they are called Chiara Alzati and Rossana Berardi you immediately understand that the mission will be serious… but not serious.
Together we talked about words that heal, stereotypes to dismantle, books to write and present, patients to really listen to. We laughed, discussed, created. And also a bit revolutionized.
The truth? When the team is the right one, everything goes well: ideas, energy, empathy (and yes, even jokes). But most importantly, you feel like you’re doing something that matters. And that you are not alone in doing so.”
Quoting Chiara Alzati‘s post:
“We should all have a partner in crime!
In the last few days, together with my Mario Scartozzi, I have carried out a mission that is very close to my heart: to give voice, humanity and impact back to scientific communication.
6 June – T Hotel, Cagliari
During the conference on Gender Oncology we addressed a topic that is still too neglected: how to avoid gaffes, stereotypes and disconnections when communicating with men, women and LGBTQ+ patients.Because language is also care. And choosing the right words makes all the difference.
12 June – Mondadori Bookstore, Via Roma, Cagliari
It was not just the presentation of our new book.
It was the celebration of a strong idea: scientific communication can and must be clear, engaging and profoundly human.
Together with Mario, we told the story of the birth of “Public Speaking for Medical Congresses”, a bridge between education and medicine, created to give more impact to the voice of those who treat, research and innovate. Thanks to the AriDigital publishing house, the patronage of Italian Medical News and Fabrizio Meloni, a sensitive and brilliant moderator.
12-13 June – Caesar’s Hotel, Cagliari
During the mCRC Speak Out Program, I facilitated an experiential session dedicated to doctor-patient communication. We have worked on:
How to communicate an oncological diagnosis with clarity and empathy
How to accompany the patient at the end of a therapeutic path
How to propose a clinical trial explaining risks, benefits and purposes
How to talk about adverse events without falling into alarmism.
In all these moments, communication is not just a means: it is an active part of the treatment. Training it is an act of care.
And you, with whom are you carrying out your most important mission?
