Mike Heenan Has Been Appointed as the Permanent President and CEO of St. Joseph’s Health System

We are thrilled to announce that Mike Heenan has been appointed as the permanent President and CEO of St. Joseph’s Health System, effective June 2, 2025. Mike will also continue in his role as president of St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton.
Since stepping into the interim role earlier this year, Mike Heenan has led with vision, compassion, and a deep commitment to our mission of delivering community-centred care inspired by the legacy of the Sisters of St. Joseph.
His leadership is grounded in transparency, collaboration, and a relentless focus on compassion, quality, and community connection.
With experience spanning hospital leadership and public service — including time as assistant deputy minister in Ontario’s Ministry of Health — Mike Heenan brings exceptional insight and dedication to advancing integrated, mission-based care across the entire continuum of services.
He understands the continuum of care and will further advance SJHS in becoming a fully integrated system of care.
