Arturo LoAIza-Bonilla: I’ve been selected to represent ASCO as a RUC delegate
Arturo LoAIza-Bonilla, Systemwide Chair of Medical Research at Capital Health, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Exciting Personal News!
Hey everyone! I have a thrilling update to share with you all. While I’m sad to miss the GI24 event in San Francisco, I’m immensely proud and honored to announce that I’ve been selected to represent American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and all of its esteemed members as a RUC delegate, currently in sunny San Diego.
For those wondering about the significance of this role, let me give you a quick insight. The American Medical Association AMA RUC (American Medical Association/Specialty Society Relative Value Scale Update Committee) is a vital entity in the healthcare world. It plays a crucial role in recommending how physician services are valued, particularly influencing Medicare reimbursement rates. This not only shapes how physicians are compensated but also sets a standard for private insurers. It’s a cornerstone in ensuring that medical resources are allocated effectively, adapting to changes in medical practice, and acknowledging the diverse medical specialties in our healthcare system.
Being a part of the RUC committee means being at the forefront of decisions that impact healthcare economics and the delivery of medical care across the United States. It’s a responsibility I embrace with both enthusiasm and a deep sense of duty. Also appreciate the support from Dr. Lynn Schuchter, ASCO Board and Capital Health (US)
I’m excited to contribute to this vital work and represent our collective voice in such an influential platform. Stay tuned for updates from this journey, and thank you for your continuous support!”
