Paolo Tarantino: CAP Announces Update to HER2 IHC Score 0 Reporting

Paolo Tarantino, 2025 Yvonne ‘Top Voice’ Award Winner, Research Fellow at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, shared a post on X:

“CAP Announces Update to HER2 IHC 0 Reporting.
The new version includes a separate field for IHC 0 with membrane staining that is incomplete and faint/barely perceptible and in less than 10 percent of tumor cells, enabling to report “HER2 ultralow” cases.”

Paolo Tarantino highlighted the College of American Pathologists’ update to HER2 IHC 0 reporting. The revision allows more precise classification of “HER2 ultralow” tumors, based on faint membrane staining in fewer than 10% of tumor cells.
