“‘Research into blood cancer is so very, very important’
When Karin, 65, was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), a type of blood cancer, she was told that without treatment, she had just a week left to live.
Thanks to chemotherapy and a clinical trial, where she was given a targeted treatment that she took for two years, she has been in remission ever since. Today, more than 20 years after her diagnosis, she says she is living life to the full.
At the ICR, our world-class scientists are leading the charge in developing innovative approaches to outsmart blood cancer, including AML.
