Goutham Sunny: Economic Crisis Affected Access to Immunotherapy in Metastatic NSCLC
Goutham Sunny, Resident Doctor at The Gujarat Cancer and Research Institute, shared a post on X:
“Important data for LMIC:
A study from Lebanon shows economic crisis affected access to immunotherapy in metastatic NSCLC, with median PFS dropping from 11.1 to 8.4 months between pre- and post-crisis periods.
Surprisingly, patients receiving <50% of standard immunotherapy doses had similar PFS to those on full doses—raising questions about optimal ICI dosing in resource-limited settings.”
Goutham Sunny shared findings from a Lebanese study on metastatic NSCLC indicating that economic downturns can reduce access to immunotherapy. The study also noted comparable PFS outcomes among patients receiving reduced-dose immunotherapy, prompting further investigation into dosing strategies in LMICs.
