“Can genetics be used to delay mammogram screening?
Retrospective case-control study, 25 591 women
Low-risk genetic group: absence of pathogenic variants or VUS in BRCA1, BRCA2, PALB2, ATM, or CHEK2, and a low polygenic risk score (bottom 10%)
9.1% low risk, 1.6% high risk, 89.3% average risk
significant reduction in breast cancer diagnosis in low-risk group (HR: 0.39; 95% CI, 0.29-0.52; P < .001)
By 50 years of age, 1.41% in the average-risk group ->diagnosed with breast cancer
Same rate was reached at 58 years in low risk group
Deferring mammogram screening by 5 to 10 years for women at low risk according to the genetics?
May this be incorporated with demographical-clinical parameters?
Future population screening will also be precision medicine, including genetic data.”
