Helena Linardou: Feeling Inspired and Incredibly Thankful After the ESMO Advanced Course on Early-Stage NSCLC
Helena Linardou, Director of the 4th Oncology Department and the Comprehensive Clinical Trials Center at Metropolitan Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Still feeling inspired and incredibly thankful after an unforgettable two days in Athens!
The ESMO Advanced Course on early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) was held in Greece for the very first time — and what a great success it was.
Together with my fantastic co-chairs, Peters Solange and Giannis Mountzios we had the pleasure of welcoming 60+ participants applying from over 20 countries, more than half from our region, Southestern Europe, Balkan and Mediterranean countries, colleagues from across oncology, pneumonology, radiation oncology, and thoracic surgery — all coming together for an intense and enriching learning experience.
We covered a wide range of topics in the peri-operative management of early-stage NSCLC: Screening, diagnosis and staging, Neoadjuvant immunotherapy and targeted therapies, Surgery, radiotherapy and toxicity management, Biomarkers and clinical trial design, as well as interactive workshops with real patient cases — creating the kind of peer exchange and practical discussion that makes these courses so valuable.
A heartfelt thank you to our brilliant faculty, the highly engaged participants, and of course, the amazing ESMO team for organizing everything flawlessly.
This felt like more than just a course — it felt like a community coming together. I truly hope this is just the beginning of more ESMO educational initiatives in our country and the region and a proud step forward for Hellenic Oncology.”
