Sports Is More Than Just Games: It’s Community – The V Foundation

“Sports is more than just games – it’s community. Jim O’Brien remembers watching New York Islanders games while he was receiving treatment in Houston. It was one of the few things that felt “normal” while 1,600 miles away from home. Jim was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia at 24 years old.

Now, after two bone marrow transplants – he is cancer-free and thankful for initiatives like the V Foundation, the National Hockey League (NHL), and NHLPA’s Hockey Fights Cancer.
