A second chance: Julius Maynoni’s story and the fight against blood cancer – The Institute of Cancer Research
The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Today, we are launching our appeal to help more people survive blood cancer.
“I wake up every morning feeling grateful to be here. Better research is the only way to treat cancer.”
Karate instructor Julius Maynoni, 66, had been fit and healthy his whole life, so he was shocked to be diagnosed with the blood cancer myeloma in September 2019.
After a stem cell transplant failed, he feared the worst. But now he is taking a targeted treatment and is in remission. He feels like he has been given a second chance at life.
Our scientists are conducting groundbreaking research that is improving treatments for all blood cancers, including lymphoma, leukemia and myeloma, and transforming patients’ lives.
But we need your support. A regular gift will help us stay one step ahead of blood cancer, so we can discover the next generation of smart, targeted treatments and give people like Julius hope for the future.
Please donate today.”
