“Thank you to Dr. Kimryn Rathmell, the former 17th Director of the National Cancer Institute (NCI), who presented the Paul Calabresi, Memorial Lecture on Tuesday to a standing-room only audience.
Dr. Rathmell reflected on the tremendous impact of Dr. Calabresi on cancer and science throughout her talk, while also sharing insights from her research on kidney cancer metabolism and metastasis and reflecting on the status of science and cancer research in the US.
Roy Herbst welcomed the Calabresi family to the lecture and shared memories of the many years of friendship with the family, and appreciation of the mentorship he (and many others in the audience) received when Dr. Calabresi served as the first Chief of Medical Oncology at Yale New Haven Hospital.
