The Paula Takacs Foundation for Sarcoma Research grants 310,000$ to Atrium Health Foundation
Atrium Health Foundation shared a post on LinkedIn:
“We are excited to announce a $310,000 grant from The Paula Takacs Foundation for Sarcoma Research!
Funding will support sarcoma research at Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute and Atrium Health Levine Children‘s in Charlotte, advancing how we diagnose, monitor, and treat this rare and aggressive cancer.
The grant was unveiled at the inaugural Champions Celebration, where Drs. Johann Hsu, Joshua Patt, and Megan Jagosky shared exciting research breakthroughs made possible by this generous support.
One promising study is focused on a liquid biopsy — a blood test detecting circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA), which could help detect sarcoma earlier and guide treatment decisions. In a pilot study, Dr. Hsu and his team found ctDNA in nearly 70% of sarcoma patient samples, showing its potential to transform care and treatment.
Thanks to the generosity of the Paula Takacs Foundation, Atrium Health will continue to advance sarcoma research, offering hope to patients and families everywhere.”
