Michael Sapienza: Ending colorectal cancer as we know it at DC ScopeItOut
Michael Sapienza, Chief Executive Officer of the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, shared a post on Facebook:
“Happy March!!! For everyone that knows me well you know that March is colorectal cancer awareness Month!! The Colorectal Cancer Alliance has a ton of events across the country all year long, but my favorite is the DC ScopeItOut which will take place on the National Mall in Washington, DC on Sunday March 23rd.
There will be over 3,000 people all there walking for the same reason. We want to end colorectal cancer as we know it. The reason this event is so important to me is because it was the first one my mom and family did after she was diagnosed in 2006 with colon cancer. This will be our 18th year doing it.
It is always very emotional for me as I so wish my mom was here, but to know that last year alone the Alliance gave away $10.5M towards research and in 2025 we hope to give away $20M I’m comforted in the fact that she did not die for no reason.
Please join us donate, join our families team the colonators, or start your own team. Fundraise, join us to walk as every dollar goes to life saving programs at the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.
