Matteo Lambertini: December 7, 2023 …a day to remember
Matteo Lambertini, Associate Professor at the University of Genova, shared on LinkedIn:
“December 7, 2023
…a day to remember…probably the most important in my professional career so far…really a unique opportunity and special emotion to present at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium the results of our multicenter study supporting the feasibility and safety of having a pregnancy after Breast Cancer in young BRCA carriers… and with simultaneous publication in one of the most important medicine journal, The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA)!
I’m very excited and grateful for the opportunity to reach such a wide audience hoping that these results will help improving cancer care for many young women all over the globe.
Such a big effort was possible only thanks to the contribution of many important people and organizations that I really want to acknowledge:
§ All the patients and their families that participated in the study
§ My co-first author Dr. Eva Blondeaux for her incredible and invaluable help
§ My US mentor Prof. Ann Partridge for believing in this research and supporting us during this long journey
§ The more than 200 researchers from 78 centers worldwide that contributed to this academic effort
§ The Italian Association for Cancer Research (AIRC – The Italian Foundation for Cancer Research ETS) and the Gilead Research Scholars Program in Solid Tumors for supporting our research
§ My Institution, the University of Genova – San Martino Polyclinic Hospital (Genoa, Italy)
§ The ESMO – European Society for Medical Oncology for a translational research fellowship at the Institut Jules Bordet (Brussels, Belgium) at the time this study was initiated
Finally, a very important and huge THANK YOU goes to my wife Giulia Viglietti and my special family…I have been away for too long over the past month and, when I was at home, most of my time was devoted to finalize this research…this period has been very hard for us but we are all proud that these results will positively impact the life of many people worldwide!
Here the link to download the manuscript online in JAMA (free for one week, please help to amplify).”
