Applonia Rose: Exciting findings on prognostic scoring in metastatic renal cell carcinoma
Applonia Rose, Managing Editor at Sage Publishing, shared a paper Ria Nagpal and collegues authored on LinkedIn:
“New Research in TCRT: Exciting findings on prognostic scoring in metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC)!
A newly published study evaluates the Geriatric 8 (G8) screening score within the Meet-URO classification for patients receiving first-line ipilimumab-nivolumab immunotherapy.
Key findings:
– G8 score is an independent prognostic factor for overall survival (OS) but not for progression-free survival (PFS).
– Meet-URO score consistently predicts both OS and PFS, making it a robust tool for guiding treatment decisions.
– In patients aged ≥70, G8 loses its prognostic value, while Meet-URO remains predictive for OS.
These results highlight the importance of integrating geriatric assessments into clinical practice while reinforcing the Meet-URO score as a superior prognostic tool for decision-making.
