Julia Ruthus: Examining breast cancer care across the major five European countries
Julia Ruthus, Head of Training Oncology Europe at Daiichi Sankyo Europe, posted on LinkedIn:
“Did you know that while almost half the EU population has actively searched for information on breast cancer, key information surrounding it remains commonly misunderstood?
At Daiichi Sankyo Europe, we recently sponsored a survey alongside AstraZeneca, examining breast cancer care across the major five European countries (Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the UK), which found that there are still significant misconceptions around breast cancer across Europe. I was surprised to learn that three-quarters of respondents were unfamiliar with the concept of a biomaker!
These insights further indicate the necessity for greater understanding among the general population around the key biomarkers and risk factors of breast cancer. This awareness is crucial for them to become more empowered in actively seeking the support and care they need.
From my role as Head of Training Oncology, Europe, I know that better communication can lead to improved education and deeper knowledge. By improving public health messaging and resource allocation for both patients and healthcare providers, we can bridge these gaps in breast cancer care. With this research, we hope to break down barriers and ensure equal access to care and information for breast cancer patients.
Together, let’s work towards a future where knowledge empowers health.”
