Princess Dina Mired Kicks off Donation Challenge during the Second Global OncoThon
“Together let’s make this OncoThon not just a moment, but a movement!”
Princess Dina Mired, Patron of the International Society of Paediatric Oncology (SIOP) and Honorary President of the EORTC, launched the Second Global OncoThon by starting a personal donation challenge. She challenged everyone to donate 10$ and pass the challenge to friends who can carry on the challenge. Her initiative is designed to harness the power of social networks to raise more funds for pediatric cancer research.
In her welcoming speech, Princess Dina highlighted the urgent need for research in pediatric cancer, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), where access to life-saving treatments is often limited. She called on the global community to unite in the fight against pediatric cancer, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in overcoming this challenge.
OncoDaily and the International Society of Pediatric Oncology (SIOP) are co-hosting the Second Global OncoThon, a 24-hour virtual event raising funds and awareness for pediatric cancer research. Despite being one of the leading causes of childhood death, pediatric cancer continues to receive far less funding than adult cancers, limiting treatment options for children.
With nearly half a million new cases diagnosed annually, the OncoThon serves as a powerful reminder of the critical gap in pediatric cancer care. This event brings together individuals, organizations, and communities to share stories, take action, and advocate for change.
