Cancer is our next public health emergency.
The facts are clear and stark: 1 in 5 people will receive a diagnosis of cancer in their lifetime, resulting in 1 in 6 deaths worldwide.

We must support people facing a diagnosis of cancer and people living with it. We must end cancer stigma once and for all. We must provide vital support to people living with cancer as we care, listen, and treat.

It is heartbreaking to read in this washingtonpost.com article that Chris Evert acknowledged feeling alone while living with cancer. No-one should feel alone or lonely.

Cancer must be at the top of national agendas around the world. Let’s hope that Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova can serve the ace to beat cancer by helping others as they have helped each other – now that really would be a fabulous tournament win!

Barriers to accessible cancer information, cancer prevention, cancer screening, cancer early detection, and cancer treatment must become sad remnants of our past because they have no place in our future.
