The Institute of Cancer Research hosted MP Luke Taylor at the Sutton campus
The Institute of Cancer Research shared a post on LinkedIn:
“It was fantastic to host our local MP Luke Taylor at our Sutton campus this morning. The site is also home to The London Cancer Hub, of which we’re a founding partner.
We are the world’s leading academic institution at the discovery of new cancer drugs. We introduced Luke to several scientists working in our Centre for Cancer Drug Discovery including within our structural chemistry, medicinal chemistry and molecular biology teams.
We showed Luke a number of pieces of cutting-edge equipment that our scientists use to study potential molecular weaknesses in cancer that they can then target with drug candidates.
We were able to talk about some of the challenges facing cancer research, including the financial sustainability of science funding.
It was great to get his support for our ‘Defeating cancer together’ report.
We look forward to continuing to work together.”
