”Since the beginning of the year, the NHS aimed to extend its virtual ward program to assist 50,000 patients monthly, setting up an additional 10,000 virtual ward beds.
Today, over 240,000 patients have benefited! These virtual wards offer swift care, matching or surpassing traditional hospital care for COPD, heart failure, and frailty.
Despite soaring demands and challenges, this program thrives. Professor Sir Stephen Powis hailed it as a huge step forward, providing hospital-level treatment at home.
These wards speed up recovery and ease hospital strain, ensuring critical beds remain available. Another interesting model to adopt and adapt in other countries.”
