Dr. Narjust Florez is a thoracic oncologist and researcher specializing in lung cancer, particularly in women, with a strong focus on reducing disparities in cancer care.
She is currently the Associate Director of the Cancer Care Equity Program at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where she has worked since 2021. In this role, Dr. Florez leads efforts to improve equitable access to high-quality cancer care for underserved populations, while also practicing thoracic oncology.
Prior to Dana-Farber, Dr. Florez served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in Thoracic Oncology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she focused on the intersection of lung cancer and gender, and mentored the next generation of oncologists.
She completed her Hematology/Medical Oncology Chief Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, where she developed expertise in complex cancer therapies and health equity.
Dr. Florez is a graduate of Universidad Católica Nordestana in the Dominican Republic, where she earned her M.D. summa cum laude, and was the valedictorian of her class.
Her career is defined by her commitment to both patient care and advocacy, focusing on addressing gaps in cancer research, particularly for underrepresented groups.
She continues to mentor medical students and fellows while advocating for more inclusive oncology practices and improving outcomes for all cancer patients.
