“Today, I Sweat For Breath for Amanda Nerstad, who is my inspiration for wanting to become more of an advocate.
Like me, Amanda had never smoked and was an active, healthy mother of two girls when she was diagnosed in her late 30s after becoming unusually out of breath after a jog.
Since her diagnosis, she has worked passionately to make ALK+ lung cancer a chronic or curable condition. She’s served on the board of ALK Positive, a patient-driven advocacy group, and has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for ALK+ research.
