Mike Linn: This is my first real cancer scare where I understand the stakes
Mike Linn, Cancer Patient Advocate, posted the following on Twitter:
“This is my first real cancer scare where I understand the stakes.
My first diagnosis was essentially instantaneous – done by a friend, and excised in less than 12 hours. I had a lot of issues throughout treatment, but I never had to worry about what it meant to potentially be diagnosed.
I was in remission for 4 years, but never truly felt like it was going to come back.
Today, I’m still fresh from the shock of both the recurrence but also being so lucky to have gotten through treatment and into remission again quickly.
I’m pretty fearful about how I’ll get mentally if I do get diagnosed again. This last week+ has been shredding my mental health. I’m fairly certain this is easily compartmentalized if I end up being healthy, but I’m not sure what it looks like going the other direction. Shitty.”
