Shaibu Issa: History in the making at MUHAS
Shaibu Issa, Member HBV Global Community Advisory Board at Hepatitis B Foundation, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“History in the making at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS).
Today, we witnessed the launch of a groundbreaking initiative where 500 students and 100 staff members received the life-saving hepatitis B vaccine, a monumental step supported by the Abbott Fund.
I was deeply honored to address students about the global, regional, and national prevalence of hepatitis B and emphasize the urgent need for vaccination to protect lives.
A huge thank you to Professor. Janabi, the visionary head of National Muhimbili Hospital and President Health Advisory, for granting me the platform to speak, and to Ntuli Kapologwe for making my presence possible.
Engaging with student leaders and hearing their powerful insights was a reminder of the potential we have to create a healthier future.
This initiative is a beacon of hope, setting a standard for institutions and nations to follow.
Together, we can turn the tide against hepatitis B.
Let this inspire more organizations to take bold steps toward eliminating this silent epidemic.”
