“Unveiling Highlights from the CAHON Winter Symposium 2024!
On December 6, CAHON brought together a distinguished group of hematology and oncology experts at The University Club Atop Symphony Tower in San Diego, CA. The symposium was a celebration of collaboration, innovation, and mentorship.
Event Highlights:
- Dr. Jing-Zhou Hou: Opened the symposium with a powerful message about CAHON’s mission.
- Dr. Liang Deng: Newly appointed CAHON President (2024–2026), shared exciting plans, including a new media platform and newsletter to expand CAHON’s global impact.
- Dr. Robert Negrin (ASH President-Elect): Delivered a keynote reflecting on 25 years of research into graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) and graft-versus-leukemia (GVL), presenting strategies for improving transplantation outcomes.
- Dr. Brian Durie: Provided groundbreaking insights on minimal residual disease (MRD) as a clinical endpoint and immune dysfunction in multiple myeloma patients.
- Dr. Hong Zheng: Presented the Young Investigator Awards, honoring outstanding research and showcasing the future of hematology and oncology.
Networking and Mentorship: The symposium offered fellows and residents the opportunity to engage with senior CAHON members, fostering meaningful conversations about academic careers and clinical practice.
