Mahul B. Amin: Mesenchymal Tumors of the Human Body – A Targeted Practical Review
Mahul B. Amin, Vice President and Medical Director, Hospital Systems Operating Division at Labcorp, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“As Editor-in-Chief of Advances in Anatomic Pathology, I’m excited to present our latest issue: Mesenchymal Tumors of the Human Body: A Targeted Practical Review.
Co-edited by Drs. Andre Pinto and Andrew Rosenberg, this issue delves into the complexities of diagnosing soft tissue tumors across diverse anatomical sites, including the head and neck, breast, skin, as well as the urologic, gynecologic, and GI tracts.
These tumors often mimic more commonly encountered organ-specific entities, making them particularly challenging to diagnose.
Key diagnostic hurdles include the integration of novel immunohistochemical and molecular approaches, which are not traditionally part of the diagnostic toolkit for general pathologists or subspecialized pathologists unfamiliar with the latest soft tissue tests.
Additionally, malignancy criteria for the same tumor type can vary by location, adding another layer of complexity.
This issue features seven expertly authored reviews by international subspecialty leaders, providing a practical, site-specific guide to help pathologists navigate these diagnostic challenges with confidence.
This publication is Part 1 of a two-part series.
Stay tuned for Part 2, which will cover additional anatomic sites and expand this invaluable resource for the pathology community.
