Sachin H. Jain: It’s time for fewer explanations and more fundamental change
Sachin H. Jain, President and CEO of SCAN Group, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“The sentiment unleashed in the last few weeks—all of which was bubbling just below the surface—is a clarion call for everyone working in healthcare to quit normalizing behaviors and activities that patients and doctors find abnormal.
To quit celebrating anecdotal stories of impact in a system that is overrun with administrative complexity that most people find dehumanizing.
Yes, the healthcare system is complicated and the root of all problems is multifactorial.
That said, efforts to explain away or justify these actions and behaviors will fall flat and resonate with no one.
It’s time for fewer explanations and more fundamental change.
Incremental efforts and explanations will appease no one.
More than ever this is a time of self-reflection and, more fundamentally, action.”
