ESO College Council Announces Election Results: Newly Elected Members to Lead for the 2025–2026 Term
The ESO College Council has announced the results of the recent Council elections!
Elected members will serve a two-year term, from January 2025 to December 2026. The Council will meet annually in person, with the first meeting scheduled for 25 January 2025 in Milan, and hold four virtual meetings during the first year, with the schedule to be reviewed for the second year.
About Council
The ESO College Council is an elected body responsible for representing the membership and guiding the College’s activities. Comprising eight members, the Council plays a critical role in shaping the College’s strategy and initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Governance: Shaping the College’s strategy and recommending structural improvements.
- Development: Supporting the creation of new programs, resources, and initiatives.
- Working Groups: Leading or contributing to groups focused on specific areas like career development, education, and strategy.
- ESO College Convention 2025: Assisting in planning a networking event to foster collaboration and idea-sharing.
- Regional Networking Events: Facilitating smaller events across regions to strengthen career networks and connections.

Justyna Bochenek-Cibor
Justyna Bochenek-Cibor is a specialist in oncological radiotherapy and a PhD graduate in medical sciences from Jagiellonian University, Krakow. She has worked at St. Luke’s Hospital in Tarnów since 2014 and earned a Certificate of Competence in Breast Cancer from the European School of Oncology in 2018.
An author of numerous scientific papers, she has completed internships at Karolinska Institutet, Universita degli Studi di Cagliari, and the University of Tor Vergata. Dr. Bochenek-Cibor is a scholarship holder of the Jakub Count Potocki Foundation and an ambassador for the European School of Oncology.
Eduard-Alexandru Bonci
Eduard-Alexandru Bonci is a Clinical Research Fellow at the Champalimaud Foundation in Lisbon, focusing on AI-driven tools for breast cancer treatment. He is also a Topical Advisory Panel Member for Bioengineering MDPI and an Editorial Board Member for Oncopedia.
Eduard serves as an ESO Ambassador for Romania and is an ESO Graduate, actively promoting oncology education. He has experience in breast surgical oncology and has participated in several prestigious fellowships, including the Erasmus+ Programme and the European School of Oncology.
Silvia Brotea-Mosoiu
Silvia Brotea-Mosoiu is a Specialist in Medical Oncology at the Institutul Oncologic Prof. Dr. Alexandru Trestioreanu in Bucharest, where she has been working since December 2020. She is also an ESO Fellow at the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori in Milan, focusing on sarcoma research. In addition to her clinical and research roles, Silvia is pursuing a PhD at Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy, where she has been enrolled since October 2021.
Silvia is also an ESO Ambassador, actively promoting oncology education and professional development. She began her medical career as a Resident Physician at Institutul Oncologic Bucuresti from 2016 to 2020. Silvia completed her medical studies at Universitatea Transilvania din Brașov and Medical University of Warsaw.
Mohamed Emam Sobeih
Mohamed Emam Sobeih is a Deputy Director at the National Cancer Institute of Egypt, a position he has held since August 2023. He also serves as Chairman of Egypt Capital Oncology Center in Cairo, where he leads clinical and research initiatives in oncology. Additionally, Mohamed is a member of the Mesothelioma Committee at the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), focusing on global efforts to improve mesothelioma treatment and research.
Since January 2023, he has been an Ambassador for the European School of Oncology (ESO), promoting oncology education and collaboration. Mohamed also holds a position as a Lecturer in Medical Oncology, where he contributes to training the next generation of oncologists
Miloš Grujić
Miloš Grujić is a radiation oncologist at the University Clinical Center Kragujevac, leading the Department of Subspecialist Cabinets at the Center for Radiation Oncology. As an ESCO Graduate and ESO ambassador, Dr. Grujić has specialized training in radiation oncology, particularly in the treatment of prostate cancer using techniques like IMRT, IGRT, and SBRT. He also serves as a lecturer at the International Postgraduate School of Medicine.
Lazaros Papadopoulos
Lazaros Papadopoulos is a breast surgeon at Iaso Hospital. He completed a European School of Oncology clinical fellowship in breast surgery at St. Vincent’s University Hospital and has experience in breast surgery at the General Surgeon Breast Surgery Department. He has also worked at Metropolitan Hospital in Athens, Greece.
Panagiotis Vlachostergios
Panagiotis Vlachostergios is a medical oncologist and attending physician at IASO Thessalias. He serves as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine (Medical Oncology) at Joan & Sanford I. Weill Medical College of Cornell University. Previously, he worked as a medical oncologist at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and completed his fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at Weill Cornell Medical Center.
Simona Ruxandra Volovat
Simona Ruxandra Volovat is an Assistant Professor at Grigore T. Popa University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Iași, Romania. Dr. Simona Ruxandra Volovat is a breast cancer medical oncologist focused on research and clinical care. She specializes in oncology, cancer diagnostics, and molecular biology to enhance patient outcomes.
