Sally Wolf: Life is so much more fragile than we like to admit
Sally Wolf, CEO and Founder of LightWorks, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I’ve been distracted all day, and I’m sure I’m not alone.
Ever since the first alert that a CEO was assassinated I’ve been reflecting how quickly life can change. Or end.
Details of this tragedy will continue to emerge, and I’ll leave those to the police and reporters.
I’m just personally reflecting on how precious life is.
Because beyond shaken and sad, I also feel vulnerable.
Life is so much more fragile than we like to admit.
Even without a terrible crime, life can change fast. From accidents to natural disasters to diagnoses, for example.
For me, today has me reflecting in much the way my cancer diagnoses did: to appreciate how vulnerable life is without dwelling on that in a way that paralyzes.
It’s an ongoing dance and one I’m sure many feel today.
It’s hard to keep working when someone died on his way to work. It somehow feels especially close to home.
So let yourself listen to how you’re feeling.
Talk to a colleague. Go for a walk. Leave early to hug loved ones sooner. Journal. Meditate. You do you.
But whatever you do, please honor what you need as you keep Brian Thompson, the UnitedHealthcare CEO, in your hearts.
And let me know if you’ve been feeling similarly. Somehow everything feels better together.”
Sally Wolf is the CEO and Founder of LightWorks and a Co-Founder of the Breast Cancer Early Detection Coalition. She is also a published writer, committed to advancing early detection initiatives and promoting breast cancer prevention.
