Highlights from ISLB 2024: Exploring the Future of Liquid Biopsy
The 6th Annual Congress of the International Society of Liquid Biopsy (ISLB) took place in Denver, Colorado, from November 23 to 25, 2024, at the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center in Aurora, CO.
The event, organized by the International Society of Liquid Biopsy (ISLB), brought together leading experts, researchers, and clinicians to discuss the latest advancements and breakthroughs in the field of liquid biopsy technology.
The congress featured a series of keynotes, panel discussions, and presentations focusing on the integration of liquid biopsy in cancer diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment. Attendees had the opportunity to network, share insights, and explore innovative technologies aimed at improving patient outcomes through non-invasive biomarker analysis.
“Very interesting data on patient access to oncology care and technology. Great faculty: Simon Heeke, Bruna Pellini, Paul Hofman at ISLB24.”
“The ISLB team shines bright against the backdrop of the Rocky Mountains! Advancing innovation and collaboration for liquid biopsy and patient care.”
“The first day at islb24 is done – lots of good talks but the day was topped off by 3 great talks by the plenary award speakers Luis Diaz, Ellen Heitzer, and Dennis Lo.
Good to also catch up with friends and colleagues Björn Nowack and Sandi Deans.”
“The first day of ISLB24 ended with a wonderful award ceremony for luminaries who have changed the history of liquid biopsy: Luis Diaz, Ellen Heitzer, Dennis Lo And with a comprehensive paroramic of the activities carried out during this year by this fantastic society.”
“With our ISLB President and mentor Christian Rolfo.
I am definitely a lucky woman to have brilliant mentors and sponsors like Christian! Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do for me! And congrats for putting ISLB24 together! It has been such an incredible meeting!”
“The editorial board is hard at work ensuring timely, high-quality publications that shape the future of oncology and hematology. Collaboration drives progress!”
“Great connecting with Umberto Malapelle here at the International Society of Liquid Biopsy, a good friend and recognized worldwide thought leader in the field of blood liquid biopsies. Appreciate your input regarding our work at Caris Life Sciences, see you you soon amigo!”
“Amazing Congress! ISLB24 I had so much fun and met so many new colleagues. Inspired by the cool science behind liquid biopsy and the clinical applications. Till the next time.”
“Annual appreciation selfie at ISLB24 with the person that changed my career. To say thank you for all his mentorship and sponsorship over the past 5 years does not fully express how grateful I am for his continuous support. Lucky are the ones that get to learn from such an innovator and disruptor like Aadel Chaudhuri. Thank you, always.”
“Astonishing presentation by my mentor Umberto Malapel on multidimensional ctDNA Testing, moderated by Eloisa Jantus Lewintre and M JOSE SERRANO Lab and followed by an extremely engaging discussion. One never stops learning from your readings.”
“Liquid Biopsy for Colorectal Cancer screening by Dr. Daniel Chung at ISLB24. Amazing talk!!!!”
“ISLB24 concluded with talks from 50 experts across 24 countries towards providing a platform to explore liquid bx transitioning from research to diagnostics , quality considerations from assays to bioinformatics, Umberto Malapelle concluded the panel discussion summing all these.”
“Liquid biopsy: a promising tool for cancer screening, but sensitivity for early-stage detection remains a challenge. Innovation is key to improving outcomes.”
“Giovanni Nigita from OSUCCC James Cancer Hospital, RolfoLab presenting minimal bioinformatics requirements for accreditation at ISLB24! Fantastic overview on challenges and future direction for integrating new technologies”
“Ellen Heitzer wins the ISLB Research Award. Here she describes beginning her journey in Liquid Biopsy.”
“Congratulations to Luis Diaz on receiving the ISLB Lifetime Achievement Award at the 6th Annual Congress of Liquid Biopsy. A well-deserved recognition!”
“Next conference is on (ISLB) and it is encouraging to see how Liquid Biopsy actually impacts patients life. Currently at the Fireside Chat session with the Precision Cancer Consortium.
There is still room for supporting patients better when not everybody has access to early comprehensive genomic profiling which for sure improves patient outcomes.”
“Christian Rolfo presenting at ISLB24 early detection strategies for different cancers!
Many studies are being published in this topic What is the best strategy? —>a mix of different technologies + AI integration!”
“One of the best slides of ISLB24! Molecular testing transforms cancer care—from early detection to resistance mechanisms in metastatic disease. Precision at every stage.”
“Interesting discussion on CTCs after starting the day with enlighten talks of Prof. David Gandara and Dr. Christian Rolfo.”
“Medicine is evolving – from a one-size-fits-all approach to precision care that’s smarter, faster, and more effective. At Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, we’re not just innovating treatments; we’re revolutionizing how we diagnose and respond to cancer.
Liquid biopsy is a prime example. This breakthrough tool could transform cancer care by catching the disease earlier, bringing results faster and guiding treatment with unmatched precision. That’s why I joined leaders at the International Society of Liquid Biopsy (ISLB) 6th Annual Congress to tackle the opportunities and challenges ahead.
The message was clear: precision medicine isn’t just about technology—it’s about access, equity, and delivering real hope to patients.
Cancer doesn’t wait, and neither should we. Together, we’re pushing the boundaries of what’s possible to transform outcomes and lives.
Explore how JNJ Oncology is driving the future of cancer care.”
“Honored to be awarded best poster at the ISLB24 Annual Congress for our work using a novel epigenomic liquid biopsy platform to detect PSMA expression and predict Pluvicto response in mCRPC.
CC: fantastic collaborators Praful Ravi, Heather Jacene, Precede Biosciences.”
“Three incredible days of ISLB24 congress have come to an end! It’s been a pleasure meeting and discussing with so many experts in liquid biopsy. Honored to be part of this society—only by sharing knowledge and experience can we truly advance the field!”
“It has been an amazing ISLB24 congress!! More than 300 participants from 24 countries around the globe 50 speakers and more than 100 abstracts with 24 travel grants. Great discussions! Thanks to participants, speakers, sponsors and ICS Events! See you in Orlando ISLB25!”
