Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu: Courtesy call to the Cuban Ambassador to Nigeria Miriam Morales Palmero
Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu, UICC President-Elect of 2024-2026, posted on LinkedIn:
“This week, we paid a courtesy call to the Cuban Ambassador to Nigeria, HE Miriam Morales Palmero. I am grateful for her steadfast support of cancer care initiatives, particularly during the Medicaid Walkaway Cancer that took place on November 2nd.
Cuba has one of the best health systems in the world as evidenced by low infant mortality rates and high life expectancy, amongst other strong indices. Biotechnology is advanced and the production of immunotherapy agents for skin, lung, and renal cancer- all locally produced.
Her commitment to advancing cancer care in Nigeria is commendable, and I look forward to further collaborations. In addition, I would like to see Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) membership grow in Cuba, commensurate to other Latin American countries.”
