Wafik El-Deiry about the cancer advocacy of Senators Ted Kennedy and Arlen Specter

Wafik El-Deiry, Associate Dean for Oncologic Sciences at the Warren Alpert Medical School, shared a post on X:

“Years ago we had such staunch supporters of cancer research in US Senators Ted Kennedy of MA and Arlen Specter of PA. Both were affected personally by cancer (Specter had Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and Kennedy had a GBM). I met Sen Specter once on visit with AACR to his office in DC.

I wrote about it it May, 2010 ‘Funding the marathon: Investigators need more than basic experiments and clinical trials to advance the war on cancer’.”
