Clarissa Baldotto Elected President of the SBOC for 2026: Marking a New Era of Leadership

Clarissa Baldotto has been elected as the president of the Brazilian Society of Clinical Oncology (SBOC).

During the XXV Brazilian Congress of Clinical Oncology, the Brazilian Society of Clinical Oncology (SBOC) announced that Dr. Clarissa Baldotto has been elected as the president for the 2026 term.

“We are happy to inform that Dr. Clarissa Baldotto, Clinical Oncologist at Oncologia D’Or RJ, is the elected president of the Brazilian Society of Clinical Oncology (SBOC) and will continue as president in 2026.” – SBOC

About Clarissa Baldotta

Dr. Clarissa Baldotta is an accomplished Clinical Oncologist with a special focus on thoracic oncology. She holds a Master’s degree in Cancer Studies from the National Cancer Institute (INCA) and a Doctorate in Medical Sciences from the D’Or Institute of Research and Education.

As the current president of the Brazilian Group of Thoracic Oncology (GBOT), Dr. Baldotta has played a key role in advancing research, clinical practices, and collaboration in thoracic oncology, with a particular emphasis on lung cancer. She also serves as a Director of the Brazilian Society of Clinical Oncology (SBOC), a leading national organization representing clinical oncologists, where she contributes to shaping health policies, advancing continuing education, and supporting research in the field of oncology.

Dr. Baldotta is an active member of several prestigious international medical organizations, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC). Her involvement in these organizations allows her to stay at the forefront of global cancer research and treatment strategies.

In her clinical practice, Dr. Baldotta specializes in thoracic oncology, particularly the treatment of lung cancer and other cancers of the chest. She currently holds the position of Clinical Oncologist and Director of Integrated Care in the Oncology Department at D’Or in Rio de Janeiro, one of the most prominent private healthcare networks in Brazil. In this role, she oversees multidisciplinary care for oncology patients, focusing on integrating advanced medical treatments with supportive care to improve patient outcomes.

Dr. Baldotta’s professional interests extend beyond clinical practice. She is passionate about advancing the understanding of cancer therapies, especially in the areas of personalized medicine and the role of immunotherapy in treating thoracic cancers. The Brazilian Society of Clinical Oncology (SBOC) is the national organization that represents clinical oncologists in Brazil. Founded on October 21, 1981, SBOC plays an active role in advancing clinical oncology through initiatives such as promoting training and research, supporting continuing education, shaping health policies, advocating for the profession, and fostering both national and international relationships.

In 1979, during a symposium in Porto Alegre (RS), the organization was re-established under the name Sociedade Brasileira de Oncologia Clínica (Brazilian Society of Clinical Oncology), which continues to be its official name today. Dr. Milton Cunha Filho was elected as the first president, and the society’s statutes were officially approved two years later.

Since its founding, SBOC has been led by various clinical oncologists who volunteer their time to serve on the society’s board, with elections held every two years. SBOC’s ongoing mission is to strengthen oncology in Brazil and globally by continually reflecting on and improving its role in advancing the field.
