About David Braun

David Braun Receives the Dr. Christopher G. Wood Rising Star Award

David Braun, MD, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Medical Oncology and a member of the Center for Molecular and Cellular Oncology (CMCO) at Yale Cancer Center. Specializing in the treatment of kidney cancer, Dr. Braun has a strong background in both clinical care and research. He earned his PhD in Computational Biology from the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University and his medical degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

After completing his residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where he received the Dunn Medical Intern Award and served as Chief Medical Resident, he went on to train in adult oncology through the Dana-Farber/Partners Cancer Care program. During his fellowship, he was honored as the Emil Frei Fellow and the John R. Svenson Fellow.

Dr. Braun was an Instructor in Medicine at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where his clinical and research focus centered on improving immune therapies for kidney cancer. He has a long-standing interest in integrating experimental and computational approaches to cancer research.

His current work explores the mechanisms behind response and resistance to immune therapies in kidney cancer, aiming to develop innovative new treatments. As part of the CMCO at Yale, Dr. Braun continues to mentor the next generation of physician-scientists, helping to bridge laboratory research with clinical applications to improve cancer diagnosis and treatment.
