Elizabeth McKenna: The November issue of Cancer Discovery is now online
Elizabeth McKenna posted on X:
“I’m so excited that the November issue of Cancer Discovery is now online! The cover honors a special collection of commentaries from researchers in China.
After the first call for commentaries, we realized that we didn’t receive many proposals from Chinese researchers, likely because the call was mainly issued via Twitter and LinkedIn, which are largely inaccessible in China.
In May, I had the fantastic opportunity to participate in a virtual event hosted by BioArt, a popular WeChat public account that shares daily summaries of biomedical research articles.
During the event, I announced that Cancer Discovery was issuing another call for commentaries specifically for the Chinese cancer research community – there was an amazing response, and we moved forward with the 9 published in this month’s issue!
I hope you will read these thought-provoking pieces, along with two great review articles – one on antibody-drug conjugates by Raffaele Colombo, Paolo Tarantino, Jamie Rich, Patricia M. LoRusso, and Elisabeth de Vries and one on mulitplexed tissue imaging by Alina Bollhagen and Bodenmiller Lab.
There’s also the set of 4 papers on KRAS inhibitor resistance in pancreatic and lung cancer – shoutouts to Julien Dilly, Megan Hoffman, Laleh Abbassi, Ziyue Li and colleagues.
And MUCH more, check it out here.”
Elizabeth McKenna is the Executive Director of Cancer Discovery at the American Association for Cancer Research. Elizabeth earned her PhD from Harvard University and trained with Dr. Charles Roberts at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Her research was among the first to show that pediatric tumors characterized by mutations in chromatin remodelers are genomically stable and instead driven by epigenetic deregulation of key target genes. She joined Cancer Discovery shortly after its launch as its founding Science Writer and became an editor in 2014, rising through the editorial ranks to become the journal’s Executive Editor in 2019. She is a member of the 40 Under 40 in Cancer Class of 2021.
