AORTIC (African Organisation for Research and Training in Cancer) was established in 1983 by African cancer care workers and scientists, along with their colleagues. This African-based non-governmental organization focuses on cancer control and palliation across the continent.
AORTIC’s primary objectives include advancing research on cancers common in Africa, supporting oncology training for healthcare workers, developing cancer prevention and control programs, and increasing public awareness about cancer in Africa. The current president is Dr. Miriam Mutebi.
