Humberto Martinez-Cordero: Amazed by the incredible opportunity to be part of SWOG
Humberto Martinez-Cordero, Hematologist at the National Cancer Institute – ESE, shared a post on X:
“I am truly amazed by the incredible opportunity to be part of SWOG and the important challenges ahead in research for our country and Latin America.
I’m excited to join the SWOG Myeloma Committee, where we will actively participate from the National Cancer Institute of Colombia.
Yesterday, we shared our insights during the Myeloma committee meeting with Christine Ye and Robert Z. Orlowski, highlighting our vision for the SWOG SLAI initiative. We discussed how we can actively participate in SWOG studies from our center in Colombia and collaborate with other sub-centers that may also join SWOG.
The participation of the Latin American Myeloma Network, International Myeloma Foundation of which we are part, will also be crucial.
I’m really excited also to share and learn from someone with an inspiring story—Luis Malpica!
From MD Anderson Cancer center, He’s been a huge help to us in Latin America through myeloma.
We had a wonderful moment with Alex Herrera, who just published the S1826 study in NEJM, and with Dacia Christine, leader of the SLAI initiative, along with Mariana Chávez, Marc Hoffman from the University of Kansas, and several colleagues from LATAM.
Together, we’re going to work passionately to achieve incredible milestones in Latin America!”
