“Last week I deactivated my ABIM Oncology and Internal Medicine Certificates. I worked hard for years to get them. But I cannot support useless MOC exams to maintain them, a waste of my precious time and money. I’ll maintain Hematology certificate for now, because it’s required.

I resent ABIM LKA and MOC in principle because I don’t learn from them, find no value, and they do not test what I need to know for practice. CME and meeting the requirements to meeting legally required state and federal license is sufficient.

I will continue to work with concerned colleagues to make leaders in medicine as well as professional organizations aware of the burdens of ABIM MOC and the need to approve alternative certifications like National Board of Physicians and Surgeons and not make all of us tied to one specific private organization.”
