Idalid Franco is a Radiation Oncologist and the inaugural Director of Equity, Access, and Inclusion for the Department of Radiation Oncology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and Harvard Medical School. A recognized leader in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within radiation oncology, she has developed multiple initiatives to enhance awareness and drive progress in this field. Dr. Franco was recently promoted to Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology at Harvard Medical School.

She earned her medical degree from Harvard Medical School and a Master’s in Public Health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, followed by a residency in radiation oncology through the Harvard Radiation Oncology Program. Her clinical expertise centers on gynecologic cancers, with a focus on brachytherapy treatments. Dr. Franco’s research explores cancer outcomes in vulnerable populations, the influence of social determinants on racial and ethnic disparities, and cost-effectiveness in care delivery.
