The United States, Australia, India and Japan Launched Quad Cancer Moonshot
The Quad countries have launched the Quad Cancer Moonshot Initiative to address the rising cancer burden in the Indo-Pacific region. This initiative was announced on September 21, 2024, during a summit hosted by U.S. President Joe Biden and aims primarily at combating cervical cancer, which is a significant health crisis in the area.

The White House shared this information, saying:
“Today the United States, Australia, India, and Japan launched a groundbreaking effort to strengthen the overall cancer care ecosystem and help end cancer as we know it in the Indo-Pacific – starting with cervical cancer and laying the groundwork to address other forms of cancer.”
The Cancer Moonshot is a significant health initiative originally launched in 2016 by former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, aimed at accelerating cancer research, fostering collaboration, and improving data sharing among researchers.
The initiative seeks to reduce the cancer death rate by at least 50% over the next 25 years and to enhance the experiences of individuals affected by cancer.
