Jody Wallace: Integration and Outcomes of Multigene Panel Testing for Newly Diagnosed Breast Cancer Patients

“Exciting News!

Our manuscript, ‘Integration and Outcomes of Universal, Multigene Panel Testing for Newly Diagnosed Breast Cancer Patients at a Community Healthcare System,’ has been published in the latest issue of ACCC’s Oncology Issues!

A huge thank you to my fellow authors for their incredible contributions and collaboration on this project: Darbey Raible, Jordan Brady, Grace Miller, Natalie Johns, and Dr. Brook Holbrook.

Some highlights of our study include:

Multigene panel testing is essential – Interestingly, BRCA1/BRCA2 were not the most prevalent genes identified among our population.

Feasibility of universal germline testing – We successfully established these protocols in a community hospital setting with an impressive 86.7% of breast cancer patients electing to proceed with genetic testing when offered universally.

Significant impact – One third of our population with clinically significant variants failed to meet NCCN criteria, while one-fourth lacked expected cancer family history.”
