20 years since The Institute of Cancer Research launched the Breast Cancer Now Generations Study
“It’s 20 years since we launched the Breast Cancer Now Generations Study.
This unprecedented study is following 110,000 women for 40 years to help scientists and researchers gain a better understanding of breast cancer.
Through this research we’re learning how to prevent breast cancer, detect it earlier, and improve quality of life and survival after diagnosis.
Professor Montserrat Garcia-Closas and Professor Amy Berrington are now leading the study at the ICR alongside 15 other scientists.
Over the first 20 years of the study, we’ve made key discoveries to help prevent the disease but there is still work to do. With 20 years to go, we expect many more breakthroughs – giving hope to the generations of tomorrow.
We’re extremely grateful to every participant in the Generation Study. Without you, this ground-breaking research wouldn’t be possible.
