Lucas Family’s Fight Against Childhood Cancer

” ‘Parents shouldn’t outlive their children. I know people don’t want to think about these things, but they can happen to anybody.’

The Lucas family’s lives changed forever when Chris Lucas, aged 15, was diagnosed with a rare soft tissue cancer. The sporty teenager battled the disease twice but died three years after his diagnosis.

After Chris died in 2000, his parents, Lynn and her husband, also called Lynn, set up the Chris Lucas Trust and dedicated their lives to raising money for research that offers hope for other people with the same cancer as Chris – rhabdomyosarcoma.

‘We don’t want any other family to go through the torment we’ve experienced, so anything we can do to help The Institute of Cancer Research’s work into Rhabdomyosarcoma, we’re 100 per cent for that’

Ahead of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, it’s thanks to our family-charity partners like The Chris Lucas Trust who make it possible for us to continue our research and work in defeating cancer and saving lives.
