Enrique Soto is running for the SIOG Board of Directors

Enrique Soto, Geriatric Oncologist at the University of Colorado Denver/Anschutz Medical Campus has been selected as a candidate for the International Society of Geriatric Oncology (SIOG) Board of Directors (2024-26).

Enrique Soto MD, PhD, MSc, FASCO is the University of Colorado Cancer Center’s associate director for global oncology and is the Editor-In-Chief at ecancer. He is on the editorial board of the OncoDaily.

He serves as a representative for the ASCO Evidence-Based Medicine Committee and is also a member of the Society’s Finance Committee. He also currently serves on several ASCO committees, including the Journal of Global Oncology Editorial Board, Social Media Working Group, Diversity and Inclusivity Task Force, Technology Research Group, and Publishing Research Group.

Previously, he was a  researcher in the Department of Geriatrics at the Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Médicas y Nutrición Salvador Zubirán in Mexico City.

Dr. Soto has published over 160 papers in peer- reviewed journals. His research focuses on the use of mobile technology to monitor older adults with cancer receiving chemotherapy and on global disparities in cancer care.

His research centers on utilizing mobile technology to monitor older adults with cancer during chemotherapy and tackling global disparities in cancer care.

Education

Dr. Enrique Soto completed his Internal Medicine residency at the INCMNSZ in Mexico City, and a fellowship in Medical Oncology at the same institution. He also has master’s degree and a PhD in Medical Science from the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

In 2017, Dr. Soto was awarded the Conquer Cancer Foundation (CCF) Long Term International Fellowship (LIFE), allowing him to pursue a postgraduate fellowship in Geriatric Oncology under Dr. Arti Hurria at the Center for Cancer and Aging, City of Hope National Medical Center in Los Angeles.

  • He is a former UICC Young Leader.

In an interview with University of Colorado Cancer Center, Enrique Soto said, “You can see those connections all across the spectrum, Cancer biology and genetics are closely tied.” 

Additionally in an interview with ASCO Connection, Soto said, “I don’t think I have ever had a personal motto, but if I had to choose, it would be, ‘Fortune favors the bold’.”
