Educational session on the Cancer Barometer at the ESMO 2024 Congress chaired by Christine Chomienne and Amil Družić
Jerome Foucaud, Head of the Department of Research in Human and Social Sciences, Epidemiology, Public Health at the National Cancer Institute, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Save the date!
I am very pleased to announce that an educational session dedicated to the Cancer Barometer (National Cancer Institute in collaboration with Public Health France) will soon be held at the ESMO – European Society for Medical Oncology 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain, from 13 to 17 September 2024.
This prestigious event will bring together the global oncology community to exchange ideas, debate cancer science and in particular contributions to the humanities and social sciences.
This session will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024 from 14:00 to 15:30 CEST and will be chaired by Christine Chomienne and Amil Družić.
The Cancer Barometer is based on the analysis of a telephone survey conducted on a random sample, the only tool available in France to understand the beliefs, perceptions, knowledge, opinions and behaviors of the population in relation to cancers, their risk factors, screening and prevention methods.
Studying these factors is essential, because behaviors are influenced by all of these elements. Cancer Barometers are designed to be repeated at regular intervals (every five years).
The Cancer Barometer is used as a steering tool for prevention policies and is also useful for developing differentiated prevention practices for specific populations.”
