Anthi Papouli: I had the pleasure to attend the GenAI in Healthcare event

Anthi Papouli, CTO and Co-Founder at

“Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending the GenAI in Healthcare event hosted by 101 GenAI and Google Cloud at Google

After some time networking, we had an incredible panel of speakers answering pressing questions about the use and future of Generative AI in the healthcare setting.

Some key takeaways from the discussion were:

It’s important to use AI in the administrative side of healthcare as well as the clinical and medical. Relieving the healthcare providers of massive amounts of paperwork and admin work can give them some time back so they can spend more of it with their patients.

We are going to see some areas of medicine being either completely automated or (more likely) largely aided by AI. Areas like radiology that have seen a recent boom in AI models practically performing as well as radiologists will slowly be transformed more as a “human-in-the-loop” situation, where human radiologists will just have to quality control and check over the outputs from the models.

Security and data safety and protection are important when handling online data, but even more so if that data is as sensitive as healthcare data. With the rapid exponential expansion of AI in healthcare, however exciting and novel it is, we have to ensure that the models we build are safe, unbiased and protective over the data used to train, test and use them on.

Explainability is an area of AI that needs to be focused on more. Especially in healthcare, being able to explain and guide not only healthcare providers but also patients on what their data is being used for, how can it help them, what the model does and what the output means, will be vital in ensuring a smooth and easy integration of AI in the healthcare setting.

I would like to thank the speakers for an amazing talk, Namrata Rastogi, Dr. Keith Tsui, Gemma Bloemen and Janardan Prasad, and Google Cloud for hosting us in their incredible offices!”
