1,000 Lives, One Message: Never Stop Caring – The Max Foundation

“Today, we celebrate a powerful milestone: 1,000 patients like Megh, who allowed us to share his story below, have now received life-changing medicine through our partnership with Takeda Oncology.
Born in rural Nepal, Megh lost both parents by 14 and became the sole provider for his siblings. At 17, he started a family of his own and worked abroad in Malaysia to support them. But 12 years after returning home, mysterious symptoms emerged.
After months of misdiagnosis, a blood test revealed the truth: chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). Most of his family gave up, but not his daughter Maya. Another patient who had lived with CML for 25 years kindled Maya’s fire, “Hope lives if we let it.”
She gave up her dream of moving to Japan and sold the family land to afford her father’s treatment.
Under the care of an excellent physician, treatment provided through our partnership with Takeda, and the support of a government-funded program, Megh’s strength returned slowly.
Today, Megh is alive because of Maya’s unwavering love, a compassionate medical team, a life-saving medicine, and strangers who never stopped caring
His daughter Maya says, “If I ever meet the people who provided this medicine, I will fall at their feet. ‘Thank you’ is too small.”
Every one of the 1,000 patients is a story that speaks to hope alive!”
