Princess Margaret Cancer Centre Joined 8 Leading Cancer Research Institutions participating in C8 Tokyo

Keith Stewart, Director of Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, shared on LinkedIn:

“Princess Margaret Cancer Centre/UHN joined 8 leading international cancer research institutions participating in C8 Tokyo, hosted by National Cancer Center Japan. The programme brought together perspectives on cancer therapeutics, immuno-oncology, artificial intelligence and real-world data, alongside discussions about research careers and future collaboration.

The opportunity for cancer centres working internationally is to connect complementary expertise and learn from different approaches to discovery and care. Building those relationships takes time, sustained scientific exchange and investment in the people who carry the work forward.

With appreciation to our hosts in Japan and colleagues across the C8 institutions for creating space for that exchange. The next step is translating shared interests into research that can make a difference for patients around the world.”

The C8 Consortium was established to foster collaboration among its member cancer centers and advance cancer research and cancer care worldwide.

Under the theme “Diverse Perspectives, One Mission,” the symposium provided a forum to share recent advances in cancer research and discuss challenges and opportunities from diverse scientific and organizational perspectives. The scientific program covered a broad range of areas, including innovative approaches to cancer therapeutics, immuno-oncology, artificial intelligence in cancer therapy and drug development, and the use of real-world data in cancer research and care.[1]
