European Cancer Organisation shared on LinkedIn:
“Around 40% of cancer cases in the EU are considered preventable.
Yet tobacco alone continues to cause around 758,000 new cancer cases every year in Europe, highlighting the urgent need for stronger prevention policies.
Preventing cancer starts long before diagnosis. It starts with bold public health initiatives, effective screening programmes and policies that reduce people’s exposure to risk factors.
At this European Cancer Summit session, clinicians, patient advocates, and policymakers will explore:
- New EU policy developments on tobacco control and the regulation of ultra-processed foods
- Practical approaches to implementing organised cancer screening programmes
- Findings from a landmark report on the status of organised screening programmes across Europe
Join the conversation on how prevention, earlier diagnosis and smarter policies can help reduce Europe’s cancer burden and improve outcomes for everyone.
18-19 November | followed by two EU-funded project events on 20 November. Brussels and online.
Enjoy the early bird rate until 15 September.”
