Alan Tan: Highlighting Ultrasensitive MRD Detection with Tempus AI at KCRS26

Alan Tan, Associate Professor at Vanderbilt University, Vice President, MRD Research and Clinical Strategy at Tempus AI, shared on X:

“Incredible KCRS26 event, the future is bright in RCC innovation. Vanderbilt University Medical Center rising GU star fellow Ezra Blumenthal along with co-author Vanderbilt GU Alum Paulo Amaral (Northwestern Medicine) highlight ultrasensitive MRD detection with Tempus AI xM Next Personal whole genome tumor informed up to 1,800 variant tracking, powered by Personalis, Inc.

After Nephrectomy, 8/25 patients MRD+ (32%)

Persistently MRD negative patients with 100% NPV for recurrence

Metastatic RCC – 32/32 (100%) patients with measurable disease, were ctDNA positive.

We need to validate this prospectively, but one of the lowest shedding cancers – kidney cancer is no longer considered undetectable by ctDNA.

Invisible disease, visible opportunity.”
